FAQs
Ordering & Paying
How do I order?
Ordering’s easy – here’s how to do it.
Will you measure up for me?
If you live close to our Wetherby workshop, yes. If you’re ordering from further afield we need to rely on your measurements. We will, however, work with you to ensure that measuring is easy and that your measurements are right.
How can I pay for my kitchen?
We don’t need a deposit to get started. A week or so before delivery, we’ll send you an invoice to pay before your kitchen arrives. You can pay us by bank transfer, via credit or debit card (you can give us your card details over the phone if you wish) or pay us cash upon delivery. We do not have the facilities to offer credit and would encourage you to get this through a third party if this is your preferred option.
Design & Manufacture
What materials do you use for your freestanding kitchen units?
The cabinets are made from 100% pine boards. Our worktops are available in hard wearing oak in 25mm and 40mm thicknesses. We can make worktops from composite laminate if you prefer.
I’ve found some Olive Branch freestanding kitchen units I really like, but I want to make changes. Is that possible?
Yes! If you’d like your kitchen units to be taller, deeper, narrower or shorter, just ask (and send us the measurements). If you’d like to add or remove a drawer, have the door opening the opposite way to the one pictured, or add a power socket, it’s all doable. In fact, most of our customers use the products on site as inspiration and make changes. Just ask.
I want my kitchen unit to have power. How do I do that?
We can install any number of power sockets to your island unit or dresser. You’ll need to ensure that there is power to the unit itself when you install it. Talk to your electrician about this.
What comes with the kitchen?
As standard we will supply the sink, sink-waste, tap, wooden turned handles, extra screws and timber for fitting, touch-up paint and extra worktop oil. Also as standard your freestanding units will be supplied hand painted in the Farrow & Ball colour of your choice, and the worktops will be finished with waterproof oil. We don’t supply kitchens with appliances, the two exceptions being extractors or pull-out bins, which we can supply.
Do you supply taps with your Belfast sink units?
All sink units include a tap, although some people choose their own separately. You’re welcome to do either, just let us know.
Can I source my own handles/knobs?
You can. Just let us know. They are usually very straight-forward to fit to our units.
Do you supply granite worktops?
No. They’re just too heavy for us to move and we don’t have the machinery to cut them. If you want a granite worktop we’ll happily quote for your freestanding kitchen unit without a worktop and you can source one locally.
If you live close to our Wetherby workshop, we can recommend a local masonry company.
Do you make the freestanding kitchen units yourself?
Yes, our kitchens are completely hand-built, solid-wood kitchens made in our Yorkshire workshop. We do not outsource our work to other companies in this or any other country.
Can you make other kinds of furniture?
Yes, we just need measurements and a description or picture of what you would like. Please be aware that, because our cabinets are bespoke, built to a higher standard and far more labour intensive than standard flatpack furniture, this will be reflected in the price. Our customers feel it’s worth it, though!
Delivery & Installation
How long will it take to make and deliver my kitchen units?
Our lead times are usually within eight weeks. This can vary depending on the size of the work and if we have free delivery slots. It’s rare that units arrive later, except where our customers have asked for a delay as they complete building work.
Will you install my freestanding kitchen units?
Our skill lies in building the units themselves. However, we have experience in fitting so the units are designed to be easy to fit for you or your fitter whilst retaining our signature look.
Can I assemble/install my freestanding kitchen units myself?
Yes you can, although you will need to be a good DIYer to do this.
Once we have your designs approved, we’ll be in a much better position to say for sure. For designs that include corners or U-shapes, we would recommend having them professionally installed. On-site builders or joiners can fit our kitchens.
All kitchens come with a set of fitting instructions and we are able to advise on the phone if you get stuck.
How do the kitchens arrive?
We endeavour to make as much as we can in our workshop without making the units too big fit in our van or to fit through a standard doorway. We need to send appliance units flatpack so they can be fitted around your own appliances. If you would like to know more about exactly how your units will arrive, please ask.
